Christina Henkel, PT, RYT

Christina Henkel founded PhysiYo with a vision of creating the kind of healthcare experience she wished existed for her patients.

After earning her Master's Degree in Physical Therapy from The College of St. Scholastica in 2000, Christina spent more than two decades helping people recover from injuries, surgeries, and chronic pain in outpatient orthopedic and sports medicine settings. While she loved helping patients heal, she often found herself asking the same question: "What happens next?"

Many patients would complete physical therapy feeling better, only to struggle with maintaining their progress once their treatment ended. Others wanted guidance on exercise, stress management, nutrition, recovery, and healthy movement habits but didn't know where to turn. Christina realized that true wellness isn't achieved through a single treatment or appointment, it's built through consistent support, education, movement, and healthy lifestyle choices.

That realization inspired her to create PhysiYo.

PhysiYo was designed to bridge the gap between rehabilitation and wellness by bringing physical therapy, yoga, fitness, massage, and holistic wellness services together under one roof. Christina's goal was to create a welcoming community where people could recover from injury, build strength and confidence, manage stress, improve mobility, and continue investing in their health long after formal therapy ends.

Throughout her career, Christina has pursued advanced training in orthopedics, sports rehabilitation, postural dysfunction, women's health, dry needling, vertigo treatment, and advanced manual therapy. She is also a Registered Yoga Teacher, Reiki Master, and holds certifications in Holistic Nutrition and Dry Needling. Her passion for learning continues to shape both her clinical practice and the services offered at PhysiYo.

What Christina enjoys most, however, is not a particular technique or certification, it's getting to know people. She believes the best outcomes happen when patients feel heard, understood, and empowered to take an active role in their health. Every treatment plan, exercise program, and wellness recommendation is tailored to the individual, their goals, and the life they want to live.

As PhysiYo has grown, Christina's role has evolved from solely treating patients to leading the vision behind the practice. While she continues to work with clients, she now spends much of her time supporting the talented team at PhysiYo, developing new programs, and creating opportunities for the community to pursue healthier, more active lives.

Originally from Michigan's Upper Peninsula, Christina developed a lifelong appreciation for the outdoors, movement, and staying active. She now enjoys life in Minnesota with her family and is incredibly proud of their accomplishments and the people they have become. She is grateful for their love, support, and the many ways they have contributed to the growth of PhysiYo over the years.

When she's not at PhysiYo, Christina enjoys spending time with family, practicing yoga, staying active, and exploring the powerful connection between movement, nutrition, and overall well-being.

"My goal has never been simply to help people recover from pain. It's to help them build the strength, confidence, and habits they need to live healthier, fuller lives."
